I first looked at the Gua Sha and wondered how a stone could do wonders. It has the most unusual shape, and honestly, I was confused as to how this could have any benefits. I am not going to lie; I owned a Gua Sha for at least a year and a half before actually using it! It was during the lockdown, when online shopping was at its biggest peak, and as usual, I saw someone on TikTok using it and wanted a jade roller ASAP. At the time, I only wanted the jade roller, but the one I wanted to buy happened to be sold with a Gua Sha in the kit. I used the jade roller for a couple of months, and like most things, I just gave up using it. When it came to the Gua Sha, I tried a couple of times but still couldn't understand its purpose, so it mostly lived on my bedside table as a part of the furniture.
Earlier this year, I made a vow to introduce more new healthy habits and try to stick to them. Something as simple as making the effort to Gua Sha every night while I was reading. So, before anything, I made the effort to understand what the purpose of the Gua Sha is and what it is.
According to Healthline, a Gua Sha is a natural massage tool that improves your circulation without using anything that damages your face. It is an ancient Chinese healing technique that increases your blood flow and, with the proper technique, provides a lot of benefits. Anyways, at this point, I'm Gua Shaing my face every night—even the nights when I can't keep my eyes open, I try to make sure I at least get a few minutes with the Gua Sha. One day, I was going to bed, and I realized that it had been over a month of me now using this Gua Sha every night. I then got up and looked in the mirror and felt my cheeks; weirdly, I felt very strong in my face. I don't know if I was even seeing anything, but my face now feels so poised, which I like. Overall, if you have one, use it. If you don't, get it. It's super fun to use and a good habit to get into.
